Why is football not popular in India?
You would have probably thought that India is so good in Cricket but why not in football? We know multiple names of cricket players but we can hardly name any football players. So there are several points which can be the answer to this question.
Reasons for football not popular in India compared to cricket
- Firstly if we look at the past then what we see is that from the starting itself, cricket became so popular among Indians that the majority of sports people never gave it a try to football, unlike cricket.
- As cricket was getting popular, new leagues, new opportunities, better infrastructure were getting created whereas those things did'nt happened in case of football. so as we all know that mass turns towards better opportunities thus leaving behind football.
- Even today we can see that an ipl player becomes popular and makes a huge amount of money than a football player of national team, so other leagues of football is no match with leagues of cricket.
- There are many people who gives preference to cricket over their other works because they knew that there are some chances of getting into any cricket league but on the other hand, in case of football, very few people gives first priority to football as they think that it might be riskier for them to take football as full time.
- Now leaving behind comparison with cricket, it can be also said that the climate of India is not suited for a sport which demands continuous stamina for 90 minutes.
